We started out the day at the Westin Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. The view from the hotel was incredible, we could see the whole city from the 33rd floor, even the Disney Concert Hall. When Laura was in her beautiful wedding dress we went directly to Union Station where they had their gorgeous fall themed wedding.

If you ever have a chance to have a Union Station Wedding, by all means go for it. There’s nothing quite like getting married with a backdrop of a romantic 30′s styled train station. There’s something so “Old Hollywood” about Union Station that I love. It creates such an incredible atmosphere.

I got an email From Donna a week or so ago asking for family portraits. Jackson is 20 months old, and Asher is 8 months old. Apparently when Jackson was 8 months old they got some family portraits at Temescal Park near the Pacific Palisades, and decided that they need some shots of Asher at 8 months too.

Donna looked at the photos of the Au’s and just had to get their family portraits taken at Trippet Ranch in Topanga State Park as well. I don’t blame her. Like I said, it’s a beautiful park with so many opportunities. If anyone wants their family or engagement portraits done, I would love to photograph you or your family at Trippet Ranch.

And just in case you were wondering, I of course used my Noah Camera Holster, and yes it does great with laying on the ground, running around, and not dropping any camera or lens off of it.

Loren and I are both photographers… Wedding photographers in fact! We are both members of Pictage(my order fulfillment company.) He and Rachel are having their coffee themed wedding in December and needed some engagement photos. Our original plan was to meet at the Lucky Strike bowling alley in the Block @ Orange(about a half hour drive south of Los Angeles), but due to their(Luck Strike’s) lack of communication we couldn’t. I can never stress enough that when you want to have a photo-shoot in another business to call and confirm that it’s ok to do so. Well Loren called a few times and they said it would be ok… We got there, and the manager on duty told us we would need a permit and authorization from their attorneys.

We obviously still needed to get our e-session taken care of, so we looked around “The Block” and we saw that there was a Starbucks Coffee shop in the complex. Now I mentioned that Loren and Rachel are having a coffee themed wedding, which I think is pretty dang cool, and we thought it appropriate to get some shots in and around Starbucks.

Now I still haven’t upgraded to the Canon 5d Markii camera, but Loren has, and I wanted to test it out and see how much I loved it. I also haven’t done much with a fisheye lens, and so I tried a few shots out with that as well. So Throughout this shoot I used Loren’s beautiful camera, and of course it worked out great with my Noah Camera Holster which I knew it would(I’ve tested it on multiple cameras.) We had a ton of fun with the engagement session(as always,) and we went to a brewery/restaurant afterwards and had some pretty dang good food.

Åse and Stephan are from Sweden. They’re a very relaxed easy going couple, and fun to work with as well. They’ve been together for about 17 years now, and have two kids; 7 and 10.  They live in a small town, and have been planning their Los Angeles beach wedding for about a year without anyone finding out. They want it to be a surprise to everyone back home in Sweden. They even planned on announcing their destination wedding nuptials via the local newspaper! Stephan works for an American company based out of Santa Monica, and stayed a stone’s throw from the Santa Monica Pier.

They flew out on tuesday for their destination wedding in Los Angeles, and got married on Friday at the Trump National Golf Club.  The ceremony itself was tiny…It was the priest Staaphan, two witnesses, and me. It was such a beautiful wedding with the cliffs of Rancho Palos Verdes in the background, the ocean, the clear blue skies. We really couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. Åse had told me that she mostly just wanted some photos of the ceremony and a couple portraits afterwards.. she said about 10-15 photos. For a 1 hour session like this I’ll usually hand over about 25 quality select photos… but since there was a ceremony as well, I had to capture those moments too. I always try to under-promise, over-deliver… and this time was no exception. She ended up with a total of 84 photos. I hope she like them!

I usually don’t offer 1 hour wedding packages, but Åse just wanted portraits and a couple shots at the ceremony and had promised that it wouldn’t go over 1 hour. It was one of the most fun, easy “weddings” that I have ever shot!

A few months back I held a contest for a free portrait package. a 1 hour portrait session, and I threw in some prints along as well… Pretty much a $450 value.

The Au family won the drawing, and we finally got a chance to take the photos due to some medical problems preventing us from doing the shoot. I took the Au’s to Trippet Ranch in Topanga State Park for this session… Yes, You’ll recognize it from the Wedding photo session I did with Liz and Arnold. I just love that park, there’s a $10 parking fee, so that helps prevent a ton of people being there all at once. So we got the whole park basically to ourselves, except for a nice family that let us go about our business.

It was a beautiful day, nice and cool, and a little breezy, I wish I could have spent the whole afternoon there…. it was great. By the way, I LOVE my Noah Camera Holster… it makes my job so easy! I just wish I hadn’t lost part of my light stand, I wasn’t able to use off camera flash, I was pretty bummed. but we still ended up with some great shots.

We decided on Trippet ranch in Topanga State Park in Los Angeles California to photograph their wedding photos. I love this park! I used to go there as a little kid. There’s a nature trail where you can see the ocean, and picnic area… it’s a great place for photos and to just hang out and relax…. I plan on doing another shoot here pretty soon.
